Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT

What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) – also known as Tapping?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), commonly known as tapping, is a gentle wellbeing technique that combines elements of modern psychology with light tapping on specific points on the body. The method was developed by Gary Craig.

EFT works by tapping with your fingertips on a sequence of acupressure points on the face and upper body while focusing on a specific thought, emotion, or issue. This process helps calm the nervous system and allows the mind and body to release emotional stress.

How Tapping Supports the Mind and Body

When we experience stress, anxiety, or difficult experiences, the body can hold onto these emotions. This may show up as tension, overwhelm, racing thoughts, or feeling stuck emotionally.

Together, these elements help signal safety to the brain, allowing the body to move from a stress response into a more relaxed state.

EFT helps to gently process these feelings by combining:

  • Focused awareness of the issue.
  • Light physical tapping on acupressure points.
  • Supportive phrases that encourage acceptance and calm.
